Role: Story / Artist
Challenges: I had a three week window for my summer break to create this short story from thumbnails to colors, in addition to vacationing and so forth, so I really had to focus to get it done.
Results: It's one of the strongest pieces I've ever done, and the prototype for a new style and process for me that I'm eager to explore further.
In the marvel method of comic book narrative, the general synopsis of the story is discussed beforehand, but the final dialogue and narration isn't created until after the artwork is complete. It's a more synergistic way of cartooning collaboratively that the full script, and after this project, it's my intention to work that way in the future as often as possible.
